Job Description

We are seeking an experienced oncology nurse to join our team as a Senior Nurse Practitioner for Lung Cancer Services at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of innovative clinical nursing practices.

About the Role:

This is a senior level position that requires a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in oncology. You will be responsible for providing holistic assessments of patients with lung cancer, implementing clinical practice, and evaluating its effectiveness. Additionally, you will work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and review protocols and guidelines that promote best practices in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a keyworker to patients diagnosed with lung cancer, providing support and information throughout their cancer pathway.
  • Deliver care and monitor treatment within nurse-led clinics, participating in service development and improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with Advanced Practitioners and CNS colleagues to provide face-to-face and over-the-phone support to patients and their carers in the community.
  • Attend lung cancer clinics at The Christie to meet patients and their carers, providing information about treatment options and outcomes.
  • Assess patients on anti-cancer treatments in nurse-led clinics, ordering chest x-rays as appropriate, and utilizing non-medical prescribing skills to manage treatment toxicity and symptoms.
  • Evaluate service delivery, identifying areas for improvement and initiating change to promote excellence in patient care.

Requirements:

  • RGN/RN qualification
  • Degree in Nursing or Health-related subject
  • Post-registration qualification in oncology or equivalent experience
  • NMP qualification/working towards NMP

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, dependent on experience
