Job Summary

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the diagnostic service, working closely with Biomedical Scientists, a MLA team leader, and clinical staff.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of tasks, including sample handling, preparation, and tracking, consultant support during specimen dissection, patient data entry, and maintaining equipment. You will work as part of the team based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and as part of the satellite team at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital on a rotational basis.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to around 570,000 people living in Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire, and specialist services to patients from all over the country. Our Cellular Pathology Department is accredited by UKAS to ISO15189:2012 and complies with HTA standards.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have literacy and numeracy skills to at least GCSE or equivalent level, with experience of dealing with sensitive information. Previous laboratory or NHS experience is desirable, as is the ability to work both individually and as part of a team, and to follow complex procedures. Strong communication skills are also essential.
