Director Crisis Communications, EMEA

The Director Crisis Communications, EMEA is responsible for safeguarding and maintaining the reputation of Marriott International, our brands, and our portfolio of 1100+ hotels in the EMEA region. This role will provide strategic communications counsel and advice to Senior Leaders and be responsible for developing messaging and handling media responses for issues or crises that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement crisis communications strategies to protect Marriott International's reputation
  • Provide communications counsel and advice to Senior Leaders on crisis communications and reputation management
  • Create and deliver training programs and guidelines to coach senior executives and hotel General Managers on crisis communications
  • Develop tools (e.g., manuals, training modules) for field use that support and educate hotel teams on handling issues at property level
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement crisis communications plans
Requirements:
  • Clear communicator with solid writing and messaging skills
  • Proficiency in multiple languages a plus
  • Ability to regularly travel internationally
  • Minimum 10 years of corporate communications experience, preferably within the travel/hospitality/lifestyle sector
  • Experience in journalism a plus, in addition to corporate communications experience
  • Strong background in crisis communications and reputation management
  • Strong understanding of the geo-political and media landscape across EMEA
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues in the skills required for crisis communications and issues management
  • Hotel and/or brand experience preferred
