Consultant Histopathologist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Histopathologist to join our team at York Hospital, part of the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Histopathologist, you will play a crucial role in providing diagnostic consultations and advisory services to clinical colleagues, while also contributing to the development of services provided to patients.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Histopathologist to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of patients. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing diagnostic consultations and advisory services to clinical colleagues
  • Developing close collaborative links with clinicians working in your area of specialist expertise
  • Supporting the reporting of systemic cytology associated with your sub-specialty area(s) of interest
  • Interacting with clinicians and allied health professionals to provide pathological support and leadership
  • Participating in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities
  • Supervising trainee pathologists and assisting in their training and appraisal
  • Complying with the requirements for revalidation by the General Medical Council and continuing to hold a licence to practise
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • 12 months UK experience at Consultant level
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
  • FRCPath or equivalent
  • MBBS/MB ChB or equivalent
