Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be part of the wider clinical pharmacy team, providing pharmacy services to patients across all disease groups.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and further develop the Antimicrobial Stewardship strategy and initiatives within the Trust.
  2. Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services relating to Antimicrobial Stewardship National and Local guidance.
  3. Support education and training to all healthcare professionals to ensure effective use of antimicrobials.
  4. Act as the pharmacy lead for antimicrobial stewardship strategy across the Trust.
  5. Manage the design, production, distribution and interpretation of antimicrobial usage reports for clinical directors, consultants and other key stakeholders.
  6. Provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters relating to antimicrobial prescribing and use.
  7. Lead and undertake a programme of audits which demonstrate safe and cost-effective prescribing of antimicrobials, compliance with Trust policies, and other national guidelines.
  8. Contribute to the development of assessment methods and competency frameworks to validate learning for specialist oncology pharmacists.
  9. Participate in the clinical training of pharmacists and Foundation year pharmacists and clinical technicians with regards to antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
  10. Represent pharmacy and act as a link person at relevant meetings and conferences.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a strong understanding of antimicrobial stewardship and clinical pharmacy services.

Requirements
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacist.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, such as a Master's degree in Clinical Pharmacy.
  • Experience of working in a clinical pharmacy environment, with a focus on antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
