Job Title: Mental Capacity Advocate

Location: Sutton/Croydon/Surrey area.

Contract: Permanent.

Hours: Full-time or part-time up to 37 hours per week.

Salary: £22,010.50 per annum, including a competitive benefits package.

We are seeking a compassionate and organised individual to support vulnerable individuals in making their voices heard. If you have experience working in welfare, support or health and social care, this could be the ideal role for you.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Travel to locations such as hospitals and care homes in the specified area.
  2. Support clients in understanding information and ensuring their wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs and values are considered.
  3. Challenge Local Authorities and/or professionals to ensure they act in the best interest of the client.
  4. Engage with people from all walks of life, promoting empowerment and safeguarding concerns.
  5. Work in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act and Human Rights Act.
  6. Monitor and report on client progress, following a checklist and submitting detailed reports.
Requirements:
  1. IAQ qualification (including any specialist unit) or willingness to study for and obtain within 12 months.
  2. Previous experience working as an advocate or with vulnerable individuals.
  3. Kindness, compassion, good communication skills and ability to connect with others.
  4. Strong organisational skills and IT skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.
  5. A valid driver's license and car for travel to clients.
