Job Title: Graduate Building Surveyor

Job Summary:

Farrans (Construction) Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Building Surveyor to join our team. As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with senior experts to optimize project costs and risks, ensuring top-notch quality and compliance with building regulations.
  2. Review conditions and/or qualifications and assist with drafting and negotiating contract types prior to submission of a tender.
  3. Ensure the preparation of interim applications, including works executed, materials on site, and works by subcontractors is submitted to the Client's team by agreed deadline.
  4. Evaluate, measure, and recover contract variations.
  5. Gather records to confirm additional payments where required and defend claims received from subcontractors.
  6. Review, assess, and reduce commercial and contractual risks.
  7. Assist with the procurement of subcontractors.
  8. Responsible for effective dispute resolution.
  9. Generate payments and distribute notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including the measurement of works and differences executed to evaluate final costs and accounts.
  10. Contribute to the submission of weekly financial forecasting, including the assembling of contract costs.
  11. Preparation of estimates and costs of the work when the project is in progress.
  12. Keeping records of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.

Requirements:

  1. Hold a Civil Engineering Degree with a 2:2 or higher.
  2. Hold a full UK manual driving license.
  3. Passionate about starting a career in the civils industry.
  4. High attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organizational skills.
  5. Demonstrate a strong interest in all aspects of engineering and looking for a dynamic workplace that provides an outstanding career opportunity.
  6. Excellent communication skills, able to work flexibly in a team, and be a hard worker.

What We Offer:

Farrans (Construction) Limited offers a competitive base salary, a contributory pensions plan up to 6%, health shield (medical & dental cover included), 34 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), and enhanced family policies. Living away from home allowance is applicable for this role, and we cover all accommodation costs, provide a daily allowance, and cover travel costs (as set out in our policy).
