About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our team at the Atomic Weapons Establishment. As a Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing an in-house warhead safety assessment capability to support the delivery of our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver warhead safety assessments on time and in full, aligned with company management procedures.
  • Conduct safety analysis against requirements and standards across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Apply appropriate safety methods, tools, and techniques to a product.
  • Liaise with stakeholders as part of a wider system design and verification team, balancing conflicting priorities and perspectives.
  • Support external activities as required as part of the Outreach and Engineering Programme.
Requirements
  • Honours Degree (or equivalent) in science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Interest in high-consequence safety assessments or a desire to develop within a nuclear safety-focused role.
Desirable Skills
  • Good engineering and scientific judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in writing reports and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority-changing environment.
