Regulatory Risk and Compliance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Risk and Compliance Specialist to join our UK & Ireland business unit at a time of significant growth.
This exciting opportunity has arisen following the appointment of a new executive level UK Compliance Officer (SMF 16), and we are further investing in our compliance framework by creating this new role to support the continued sustainable growth that we have seen across all of our core business lines.
Key Responsibilities- Support and oversee conduct and regulatory risk in the context of projects, product development, bids and tenders, including supporting agile product development processes with timely and comprehensive regulatory advice.
- Partner with other Compliance team members and first line colleagues to identify areas of high regulatory and conduct risk.
- Support the continued evolution of a proportionate control environment so that key regulatory risks are appropriately managed.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting and, where necessary, ensure escalation of regulatory matters such as risk incidents to senior management and relevant governance fora.
- Support first line teams to assess the impact of regulatory changes and the development of necessary controls through the implementation of a pro-active engagement model.
- Utilise regulatory risk assessment tools to assess the impact and likelihood of risks related to new product developments.
- Regular review of policy framework and implementation of required updates to ensure compliance with the changing regulatory landscape.
- Oversight of the first line of defence through review of KPIs and follow up on identified risks.
- 5+ years of experience within a Compliance function.
- A sound knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and key conduct related priorities within insurance.
- Can independently manage a portfolio of work and balance the demands of maintaining high quality work and delivering to deadlines.
- Quickly master unfamiliar businesses, process or products.
- Focus on timely delivery of quality outputs.
- Fully understands the concepts of risk, controls and materiality and can be proportionate when making decisions.
