Join Our Team as an Assistant Buyer

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Buyer to join our team at Joules. As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Buyer in developing, progressing, and delivering the range for all channels, including sample management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Buyer in developing and delivering the range for all channels, including sample management.
  • Manage approvals for the department, escalating any issues to the Buyer.
  • Take responsibility for critical path management to ensure on-time launch positions are achieved and critical dates are adhered to.
  • Display an understanding of overarching buying strategies and department KPIs to take accountability in achieving them.
  • Understand margin targets and key component breakdowns associated with product costs to help negotiate with the support of the Buyer.
  • Have an awareness of CSR targets in line with brand strategy.
  • Work with key stakeholders across Wholesale, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, and Photography.
  • Attend weekly trade meetings, working with the merchandising team to analyze sales data and deputize for the Buyer, including presenting to key management.
  • Help to coach Trainee Buyers and support team members.
  • Lead with a customer mindset, visiting stores and competitive shops.
Requirements:
  • Keen critical path management skills and confidence to challenge back.
  • The ability to work flexibly, at pace, and manage your own workload with confidence.
  • Exposure to costing and negotiations.
  • Has a high ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Has a clear understanding of our brand DNA and who our customer is.
  • Has a passion for product and motivated attitude.
  • Be able to identify key competitors and trends in order to recommend product strategies to the Buyer.
  • Comprehensive industry knowledge of market competition.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with a can-do attitude.
  • Has the confidence to communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic with their approach to the role with the ability to take on new challenges in time.
  • Has a team player outlook to build strong and meaningful relationships with both internal and external counterparts and suppliers.
  • Have previous experience as a Trainee Buyer or Buyers Admin Assistant within the Fashion Industry.
