Job Description:


"The Football Association" is seeking an exceptional Men’s National Coach to lead our Youth Development Phase Teams to success. The right candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maximize our "Winning Players, Winning Teams" approach. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills, with a proven track record of success in elite football development. The successful candidate will be part of a high-performing team and will be responsible for delivering exceptional results in a fast-paced environment.


Main Responsibilities:


  • National Teams: Overall leadership and management of players and staff associated with the Youth Development Phase.
  • Preparation, delivery, and review of seasonal fixture programs, training events, games, and tournaments within allocated budgets and the context of the short, medium, and long-term player development pathway.
  • Oversight of the squad and team selection process, working closely with the multidisciplinary team and other National Coaches.
  • Leadership and delivery of the overall technical and tactical program within the Youth Development Phase, ensuring alignment and optimal utilization of all YDP coaches and MDT support staff.
  • Creation and delivery of the technical and tactical programs within the designated phase, liaising closely with the MDT support staff.
  • Review and feedback mechanism to players and in conjunction with clubs, where possible, with face-to-face contact.
  • Support in ongoing player grading and handover activities across age groups.
  • Assistance in the delivery of events with other age groups.

Talent ID & Club Engagement


  • Liaison with "Insights" and "Recruitment & Retention" department to actively identify, track, and monitor players for consideration for England teams across the phase.
  • Establish and develop close relationships with professional football clubs and relationships in the Insight department, ensuring this is carried out across the phase and linked up with other phases.
  • Creation and delivery of "Club Engagement" events/activities linked to strategic priorities.

Coach Education


  • Coordination of YDP staff's coach education duties with relevant Coach Developers.
  • Delivery of coach education duties under the guidance of the Head of Coaching and Coach Developers for appropriate activities.
  • Liaison and collaboration with other National team staff and the FA Education department to ensure good practice is shared in both education and national team settings to optimize the quality of delivery in both areas.

Other


  • Outstanding recorded preparation, delivery, and review of all work undertaken via the appropriate FA systems.
  • Development of collaborative links inside and outside of football to ensure our work remains contemporary and relevant to the demands of the future game.
  • Collaboration with FA media and communications staff to ensure consistent appropriate management of external communications as required.
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the game.
  • Execution of additional tasks as required to meet FA Group changing priorities.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing can be maintained.
