About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security System Engineer to join our Fleet function, a small multi-disciplinary team that supports corporate and project governance, risk management, and audits of Train Operating Companies, suppliers, and internal Porterbrook processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Fleet Cyber Security Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive cyber security strategy for Porterbrook assets, ensuring they are protected from emerging threats and cyber security best practices.
  • Cyber Security Risk Assessment: Conduct regular cyber security risk assessments of asset modifications, identifying potential vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation measures.
  • Promote Cyber Security Best Practices: Educate and promote cyber security best practices throughout our engineering teams, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to protect our assets.
  • Support Customers: Collaborate with customers to understand their cyber security requirements under the NIS Directive, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance.
  • ERTMS Cyber Security: Support the engineering team with ERTMS cyber security, ensuring that our assets are resilient to cyber failure and compromise.
  • Management of Change: Ensure that the Management of Change Procedure and all changes take full account of cyber security risk, ensuring that our assets remain secure.
  • Cyber Security Requirements: Determine Fleet cyber security requirements for both new train procurement and existing fleet upgrades, ensuring that our assets meet the necessary security standards.
Requirements
  • Rail Engineering Background: A strong understanding of digital technology and rail-related cyber security, with a degree in engineering or IT.
  • Cyber Security Knowledge: Knowledge of Chief Information Security Officer responsibilities, cyber security of rolling stock assets, data security, and rolling stock systems engineering.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
