About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Mears team as a Tenant Welfare Officer, playing a key role in providing temporary accommodation and support to vulnerable individuals and those with special housing needs.

As a Tenant Welfare Officer, you will be part of a front-line delivery team, working closely with colleagues, external agencies, and charitable organizations to support resettlement, move-on, and community cohesion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and record welfare and support needs for clients, identifying individual and family requirements and developing tailored support packages.
  • Organize and provide support for clients preparing to move-on to greater independence, ensuring a smooth transition and successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to the protection of clients, neighbors, and the local community, safeguarding and welfare being fully considered in line with processes.
  • Deliver services through sign-posting, direct referral, and liaison with other housing, health, and social care professionals, benefits, welfare, and advocacy agencies.
  • Ensure full contractual compliance and successful outcomes of all Key Performance Indicators and service delivery targets.
  • Manage tenancy breaches in line with Mears processes and procedures, ensuring clients understand mutual terms and obligations.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure contractual compliance and successful outcomes.
  • Deliver move-in and move-out services, flagging issues and risks to relevant teams for action.
Requirements
  • Experience in delivering front-line customer service, working as part of a team, and delivering against targets.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of statutory authorities and voluntary groups in providing identifiable support needs.
  • A flexible working approach and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to identify individual and family need and recognize required support packages to maintain independence.
  • Effective communication skills, both face-to-face and with colleagues.
  • Ability to understand differing cultures and adapt approach to achieve best outcomes.
