Job Title: Autism Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEN, including those in the Autism Unit, to help them access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) to ensure students receive tailored support.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment that promotes social skills and independence.
  • Support students in developing positive relationships with peers and engaging with the curriculum to the best of their abilities.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with SEN, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
