A supportive and inclusive environment is being created by a local secondary school in Romsey for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school caters to a range of SEN needs but specializes in Autism. It believes in tailored support and individualized attention to help every student reach their full potential.

As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, including those within the Autism Unit. You will assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs). Collaboration with teachers, therapists, and other support staff will be essential to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.

Fostering independence, confidence, and self-esteem in students with SEN through personalized support and encouragement will be your key focus. You will also help students engage with the curriculum and participate in classroom activities to the best of their abilities. Supporting students in developing social skills and building positive relationships with peers is also crucial.

In this role, experience working with SEN, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is desirable. A compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs, is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals, are also required.

The school offers a welcoming and inclusive school community committed to supporting both students and staff. Ongoing professional development opportunities will be available to enhance your skills and knowledge in special education and SEN support. A competitive salary and benefits package, reflective of your experience and qualifications, will be offered.
