Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced midwife to join our team as a Matron for Maternity Services. As a senior clinical leader, you will be responsible for providing clinical and professional midwifery leadership and accountability for the following clinical areas:

  • Central Delivery Suite
  • Brancaster Ward
  • Maternity Triage

You will lead and facilitate the development of efficient, effective, and patient-focused services for women and children receiving care within the division. Through strong clinical leadership, you will support the teams to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery care to maintain and improve clinical standards.

The post holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity, and respect, placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond. Partnership working is a priority in supporting the delivery of a seamless and integrated service. Patient experience is a key responsibility of the role to ensure that care is delivered to the highest quality, inspiring patient and public confidence.

You will work in accordance with the principles governed by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and Trust Policies. Acting with professionalism and integrity, you will be a role model to those around you and ensure everyone has an equal opportunity.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust is a comprehensive healthcare provider serving a population of around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire, and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances.

We work collaboratively with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care. In February 2022, the Trust was rated 'Good' in all core services by the Care Quality Commission, recommending that we move out of the recovery support system.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife on the NMC register
  • Education to Master's Degree Level or equivalent level of experience and working towards formal qualification
  • Evidence of recent relevant professional development
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification

Desirable criteria include evidence of enhanced clinical practice and experience in managing staff, including performance management.
