Lancaster, Lancashire, United Kingdom Lancaster University Full time

At Lancaster University, we are committed to promoting social mobility and addressing educational inequality. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in encouraging young people from widening participation backgrounds to achieve their potential.

The Social Mobility Ambassador will be responsible for coordinating outreach projects and activities designed to raise attainment and broaden the aspirations of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This will involve working closely with teachers, schools, and colleges to develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and other initiatives that promote higher education opportunities.

A crucial aspect of this role is building relationships with key contacts to monitor the progress of students participating in these activities and provide constructive feedback to maximize their learning. Your creative approach and experience of working with young people will be essential in developing and delivering engaging programs that meet the needs of our students.

This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to develop your knowledge of higher education topics, including progression routes, student finance, the UCAS application process, and student life. You will work closely with colleagues to develop and deliver presentations at partner schools and colleges, ensuring that young people and their parents are aware of the opportunities available at Lancaster University and can make informed decisions about higher education.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you will be required to travel across the North West and occasionally further afield within the UK. A willingness to work some weekends and evenings is also an essential element of this role. We offer a full-time, indefinite contract, and we are open to considering applications at 0.8 FTE. The role could be undertaken as a blended position with a mix of working remotely and working on campus, although solely working on campus is also an option.

We welcome applications from black and minority ethnic people, as we aim to increase staff diversity within the University. Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum.
