NHS Lothian is seeking a highly skilled and experienced nurse/midwife to join our Sexual and Reproductive Health Service. As a Sexual Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients requiring Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, Contraceptive, unplanned pregnancy, and gynaecological care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the care of patients requiring Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, Contraceptive, unplanned pregnancy, and gynaecological care.
- Work independently and as part of a team to provide person-centered care.
- Develop and maintain effective communication skills to promote patient engagement and understanding.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- First-level registered nurse/midwife with current NMC registration.
- Post-registration qualification in sexual and reproductive health (or willingness to undertake).
- Minimum of two years post-registration experience, including some experience in sexual health or related areas.
- Non-judgmental, person-centered approach.
- Ability to use initiative and work independently.
- Effective communication skills.
- Highly developed clinical consultation skills.
- Willingness to work unsocial hours and travel independently to local clinics throughout Lothian.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge and understanding of contraceptive options for women.
- Experience of using MI techniques to promote behavior change.
Working Arrangements:
Hours of work are Monday to Friday or 12.00 – 20.00 with a minimum of one evening shift per week and the possibility of long days in some circumstances. Part-time may be considered, subject to service needs.
