Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the care of patients requiring Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, Contraceptive, unplanned pregnancy, and gynaecological care.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to provide person-centered care.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication skills to promote patient engagement and understanding.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • First-level registered nurse/midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Post-registration qualification in sexual and reproductive health (or willingness to undertake).
  • Minimum of two years post-registration experience, including some experience in sexual health or related areas.
  • Non-judgmental, person-centered approach.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Highly developed clinical consultation skills.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours and travel independently to local clinics throughout Lothian.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of contraceptive options for women.
  • Experience of using MI techniques to promote behavior change.

Working Arrangements:

Hours of work are Monday to Friday or 12.00 – 20.00 with a minimum of one evening shift per week and the possibility of long days in some circumstances. Part-time may be considered, subject to service needs.
