Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Scottish Longitudinal Study Development and Support Unit within the Longitudinal Studies Centre Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Scottish Longitudinal Study Development and Support Unit, including managing correspondence, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff, existing and potential service users, and occasionally members of the public.
  • Support the organization of events and meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and coordinating logistics.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations, reports, and other documents using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Provide IT support, including troubleshooting and maintaining computer systems and software.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working in a busy office and customer-focused environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and using own initiative.
  • Experience of using a wide variety of IT software, including MS Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of raising purchase orders and paying invoices.

Working Arrangements:

This is a part-time position, with the possibility of working 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours per week). The post is front-facing and is fixed-term, approximately 12 months duration.
