About the Role

We are seeking an experienced High-Rise Building Safety Specialist to join our team at Watford Community Housing. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of our high-rise buildings, working closely with residents, colleagues, and external stakeholders to drive forward initiatives that enhance building safety.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building safety management, with experience in fire and structural safety principles. You will be able to comprehend and implement these principles effectively, ensuring the safety of high-rise buildings and their occupants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Case Maintenance: Manage and maintain the safety case for high-rise buildings, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigating measures.
  • Building Safety Management: Oversee the safety of all high-rise buildings, conducting regular inspections to assess fire safety measures and serving as the primary contact for all building safety issues and compliance.
  • Resident Engagement: Provide essential fire safety information to residents and address any concerns they may have about their homes, implementing and managing the Resident Engagement Strategy (RES).
  • Mandatory Reporting: Establish and operate a mandatory occurrence reporting regime, reporting to the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).
  • Compliance: Conduct hazard assessments, develop safety cases, gather Regulation 38 information for new builds, and liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Information Management: Review, update, and maintain information on buildings and occupants, ensuring our systems support ongoing safe management (Golden Thread).
  • Reporting: Provide monthly safety and engagement reports to the Head of Asset and Sustainability, and quarterly updates to the Executive Management Team (EMT).
What We're Looking For:
  • A strong track record of experience in building safety management or a related field, with at least 3 years' experience.
  • Proven ability to comprehend and implement fire and structural safety principles effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and resident safety.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
