European Road Freight Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced European Road Freight Coordinator to join our team at Red Recruit. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the export/import processes for road freight shipments, ensuring the profitability of our European transport operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport Route Planning: Plan and coordinate transport routes and daily schedules for Europe, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Customer Service: Ensure effective management of customer collections, packing services, and deliveries.
  • Route Scheduling: Work with customers and office staff to plan routes and schedule delivery times, coordinating drivers, agency drivers, and vehicles.
  • Customs Clearance: Coordinate with customs for clearance and manage customs entry exceptions.
  • Freight Management: Manage EU airfreight and EU road courier shipments.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve client/supplier problems and complaints.
  • Shipping Coordination: Coordinate all aspects of shipping fine art and antiques from one destination to another.
  • Communication: Liaise with overseas agents, private collectors, galleries, auction houses, artists, transport companies, and clients.
  • Quoting and Coordination: Quote and coordinate both domestic and international shipments.
  • Customer Collections: Arrange customer collections and deliveries, including specialist packing services.
  • Documentation: Prepare, book, and process all documentation involved in transportation.
  • Paperwork Management: Efficiently handle paperwork, including bills of lading, labelling, timesheets, and detailed condition reports with photos, customs clearance, and advising customers of required payments.
  • Invoicing: Ensure invoices are produced on time, month to month or in advance as required.
  • Operational Reporting: Prepare operational reports detailing all work done and comprehensive record keeping, including on our freight management system.
  • Cost Analysis: Produce a cost analysis and reports of jobs and European truck runs.
  • Team Communication: Communicate with sales and operations teams throughout the day.

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record and knowledge of domestic and European transport operations and planning, with in-depth knowledge of current EU customs procedures, including paperwork requirements, and EU transport legislation. You will need to have good geographical knowledge and experience in dealing with high-end clients and goods.

You will be commercially focused and organized by nature, with excellent attention to detail skills, proficient Microsoft Office skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
