Commercial Manager Construction Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to join our team at Padstone Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will play a crucial role in managing costs on various projects, ensuring maximum value for money while maintaining delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and agree monthly payment applications with clients' QS teams
  • Develop and manage internal budgets in collaboration with the Procurement team
  • Produce monthly cash-flow reports to inform senior management
  • Identify, value, and agree variations to ensure effective cost management
  • Collate and analyze labour, material, plant, and subcontractor cost data for senior management reports
  • Assist in reviewing proposed contracts, contractual arrangements, and contract documentation
  • Prepare sub-contract orders from tender enquiries to order placement
  • Manage daily administration of subcontractor accounts to ensure timely cost management
  • Evaluate sub-contractor applications and raise payment certificates
  • Support the Pre-Construction team by reviewing tender documentation
  • Assess commercial risk on projects and provide support to the Project Team
Requirements:
  • Minimum HNC qualification or working towards a recognized qualification
  • Appropriate commercial and financial experience on construction projects
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations in large buildings
  • Experience with various contract types and contractual frameworks
  • Excellent literacy, numeric, and IT skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering information
  • Strong awareness of commercial management processes and procurement, stock management, health and safety best practices
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
