Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Outline:

The Quality Assurance Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing and directing quality management processes in alignment with established operational protocols and the company’s Quality Manual. This position requires a proactive approach to influence product design and ensure effective Quality Planning and Control measures are executed throughout the production lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company operational procedures in all activities.
  • Guide the development of procedures to adapt to dynamic environments.
  • Collaborate with Operations to foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying best practices and advocating for changes alongside Process Engineers.
  • Lead investigations into Quality Root Causes and implement corrective actions using methodologies such as 8D and A3.
  • Support the rapid response process through tools like Fishbone diagrams and the 5 Whys technique.
  • Oversee the department's Material Review Board (MRB) process and report on critical issues.
  • Manage Nonconformities within the designated area and assist employees in executing effective corrective actions.
  • Generate and analyze Right First Time data, publishing results to guide focus and efforts.
  • Engage with various business units, suppliers, and customers to resolve product quality issues.
  • Conduct layered process audits and AS9100D internal audits to ensure adherence to procedures and standards.
  • Participate in business and product reviews to ensure customer requirements are met satisfactorily.
  • Establish strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Verify processes according to AS9102 (FAI) and AS9145 (PPAP) standards.
  • Conduct risk analysis and mitigation strategies (FMEA – PFMEA/DFMEA).

Candidate Profile:

Essential qualifications include:

  • A strong educational background, ideally at HNC level or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards.
  • A solid foundation in an engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical) and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for detailed technical report generation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, a systematic work approach, and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while meeting challenging objectives.

Desirable attributes may include:

  • In-depth knowledge of Excelitas Technologies products and processes, along with an understanding of the management system.
  • Familiarity with auditing techniques, with training provided as necessary.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance within a precision manufacturing context.
