Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Outline:

The Quality Assurance Engineer will play a crucial role in overseeing and guiding quality management processes in alignment with the company's operational protocols and quality standards. This position is pivotal in influencing product design and ensuring that effective quality planning and control measures are established during the production and ongoing manufacturing phases.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company operational procedures in all activities.
  • Guide the development of procedures to adapt to changing environments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying best practices and collaborating with Process Engineers.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using quality methodologies such as 8D and A3.
  • Assist in rapid response efforts employing tools like Fishbone diagrams and the 5 Whys technique.
  • Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process and report on critical issues.
  • Oversee nonconformities in the designated area and provide support for effective corrective actions.
  • Generate and publish Right First Time metrics to guide focus and efforts.
  • Collaborate with various departments, suppliers, and customers to resolve product quality issues.
  • Conduct layered process audits and AS9100D internal audits to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Participate in business and product reviews to address customer requirements effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Verify processes in accordance with AS9102 (FAI) and AS9145 (PPAP) standards.
  • Engage in risk analysis and mitigation strategies, including FMEA methodologies.

Candidate Profile:

Essential qualifications include:

  • A strong educational background, ideally at HNC level or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards.
  • A solid foundation in an engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical) and problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for technical report generation.
  • Excellent communication skills, a systematic approach to tasks, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under pressure to meet challenging objectives.

Desirable attributes may include:

  • In-depth knowledge of Excelitas Technologies products and processes, along with an understanding of the company’s management system.
  • Familiarity with auditing techniques, with training provided as necessary.
  • Experience in quality assurance within a precision manufacturing setting.
