Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Outline:

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and enhance quality management processes, ensuring adherence to established operational protocols and the company’s Quality Manual. The successful candidate will play a vital role in influencing product design and implementing effective Quality Planning and Control measures throughout the production lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company operating procedures in all activities.
  • Guide the development of procedures to adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations to foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying best practices and implementing changes in partnership with Process Engineers.
  • Lead investigations into quality issues and corrective actions using methodologies such as 8D and A3.
  • Support rapid response initiatives utilizing tools like Fishbone diagrams and the 5 Whys technique.
  • Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process and track key issues, including overdue MRB tickets.
  • Oversee nonconformities in the designated area and provide guidance on effective corrective measures.
  • Generate and analyze Right First Time data, using results to direct focus and efforts.
  • Engage with various departments, suppliers, and customers to resolve product quality concerns.
  • Conduct layered process audits and AS9100D internal audits to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Participate in business and product reviews to ensure customer requirements are met satisfactorily.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Verify processes in accordance with AS9102 (FAI) and AS9145 (PPAP) standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and analyses, including FMEA (PFMEA/DFMEA).

Personal Specification:

All candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • A strong educational background, ideally to HNC level or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards.
  • A solid foundation in an engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical) and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for detailed technical report writing.
  • Exceptional communication skills, a systematic approach to tasks, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure to meet challenging objectives.

The following attributes are desirable but not mandatory:

  • In-depth knowledge of Excelitas Technologies products and processes, along with an understanding of the company’s management system.
  • Familiarity with auditing techniques, with training available if necessary.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance within a precision manufacturing environment.
