National Clinical Lead: Pharmacy Expert

As a key member of the NHS Scotland team, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to lead our Primary Care Phased Investment Programme. The successful candidate will provide clinical and professional expertise and governance for the programme, which aims to improve implementation of the General Medical Services (GMS) contract with a focus on pharmacotherapy and community treatment and care (CTAC) services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and professional expertise and governance for the Primary Care Phased Investment Programme
  • Develop a culture of continual improvement across primary care settings
  • Build evidence to understand the national context for implementation

Requirements:

  • Pharmacist with extensive knowledge and recent experience of working in a primary care setting
  • Experience of supporting implementation of the Pharmacotherapy Service as part of the GMS contract
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Understanding and experience of quality improvement methods

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a national improvement initiative. The successful candidate will have a critical role in providing clinical knowledge and expertise of primary care practice to inform the design and delivery of the programme. They will also have a key role in engaging with demonstrator site primary care teams and contributing their expertise on pharmacy in primary care more widely within Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
