About the Role

As the Head of Public Protection and Consumer Standards, you will be responsible for leading a wide range of services, including protective security, trading standards, licensing, and digital evidence (CCTV). You will oversee critical areas such as:

  • Protective Security Standards">
  • Counter Terrorism and Extremism (CONTEST and Prevent)">
  • Digital Evidence and Intelligence (CCTV)">
  • Licensing (including alcohol, entertainment, and animal welfare)">
  • Trading Standards">

You will develop and implement service plans, strategies, and policies that drive continuous service improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver public protection objectives.">
  • Acting as the council's primary contact for counter-terrorism matters.">
  • Managing significant budgets (£400,000 - £600,000) and contracts to ensure value for money.">
  • Overseeing the borough's CCTV network and ensuring compliance with surveillance regulations.">

About You

">

We are seeking a dynamic leader with a strong background in public protection and consumer standards. You should have in-depth knowledge of key issues affecting the borough, particularly in delivering compliant CCTV provision, a robust CONTEST strategy, and delivery of commercial environmental health services.

You will bring significant experience managing stakeholder engagement and strong leadership skills with clear experience of motivating teams and improving service delivery. Expertise in managing proactive enforcement, legal compliance, and risk management is essential.
