Carpentry Workshop Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpentry Workshop Manager to join our team at MCG Construction. As a key member of our scenic construction department, you will be responsible for leading and developing our warehouse and workshop scenic team, managing the day-to-day tasks, and ensuring the highest possible standards and deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead and develop our warehouse and workshop scenic team, including line management and training.
- Task Management: Manage the day-to-day tasks of the workshop and scenic warehouse team, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting deadlines.
- Construction and Preparation: Manage the construction and preparation process of our equipment, maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines.
- Health and Safety: Maintain high standards of health and safety in the workshop and scenic warehouse.
- Stock Management: Manage the stock of workshop materials and consumables, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Maintenance: Maintain workshop equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Design and Specification: Provide input on construction design and material specification for custom scenic elements.
- Hands-on Construction: Participate in the hands-on construction of scenic products.
- Communication: Regularly communicate with the Head of Scenic for day-to-day and forward planning, ensuring best use of department resources.
- Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Support and Assistance: Assist other departments and provide support as needed to meet business objectives.
- Experience: At least 5 years' experience in the professional live events industry with a specialism in scenic construction.
- Leadership and Communication: Self-motivation, ability to lead by example, and excellent communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and CAD plans, good working knowledge of workshop tools and machinery, and excellent carpentry skills.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to lead and work as part of a team, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Problem-Solving and Planning: Ability to plan and prioritize multiple jobs, problem-solve, and work to deadlines.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Flexibility and a can-do, customer-focused attitude, with a keen eye for detail and high standards of presentation.
- IT Skills: Strong IT skills, including proficiency in relevant software and systems.
