Carpentry Workshop Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Carpentry Workshop Manager to lead our scenic construction team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our workshop and scenic warehouse. The successful candidate will have a strong background in scenic construction and a proven track record of leading and developing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the scenic construction team, including line management and training.
- Manage the day-to-day tasking of the workshop and scenic warehouse team, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting deadlines.
- Oversee the construction and preparation process of our equipment, maintaining the highest possible standards and ensuring timely completion.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Manage stock levels of workshop materials and consumables, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
- Perform routine maintenance on workshop equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Collaborate with the Head of Scenic to provide input on construction design and material specification for custom scenic elements.
- Contribute to the development of scenic products, working closely with the team to ensure high-quality results.
- Communicate effectively with the Head of Scenic and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration and resource allocation.
- Provide training and support to team members as needed, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years' experience in the professional live events industry, with a specialism in scenic construction.
- Self-motivation, with the ability to lead by example and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and CAD plans, with the ability to interpret and implement designs.
- Good working knowledge of workshop tools and machinery, with experience in carpentry and scenic construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with CNC machines is an advantage, but not essential.
