About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at the Mercure Brands Hatch Hotel & Spa in Kent. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the quality and consistency of dishes, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing daily kitchen operations.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure high-quality dishes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, ensuring dishes meet the hotel's culinary standards.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring efficient kitchen operations.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to create new recipes and menus, driving culinary innovation.
  • Handle customer feedback and make necessary adjustments to ensure exceptional dining experiences.
  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in cost control and budget management, ensuring efficient kitchen operations.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role, with a strong background in kitchen management.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience, with a deep understanding of cooking techniques and recipes.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and mentor kitchen staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, with a passion for culinary excellence.
