About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at the Mercure Brands Hatch Hotel & Spa in Kent. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the quality and consistency of dishes, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking processes.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure quality and consistency of dishes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, working collaboratively with the Head Chef to create new recipes.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent service.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, conducting regular kitchen inspections and audits.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to coordinate catering and special event planning, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and culinary techniques, applying knowledge to enhance menu offerings and kitchen operations.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role, with a strong background in kitchen management.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience, with a keen eye for detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, with a passion for food and culinary excellence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service excellence.
