About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our team at Barnardo's. As a key member of our National FGM Centre, you will play a vital role in supporting the objectives of the Centre and contributing to the prevention of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), breast flattening, and child abuse linked to faith or belief (CALFB).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on supporting the objectives of the National FGM Centre, working closely with professionals and communities to educate and prevent harmful practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to build knowledge and expertise among professionals and community members.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and signposting or referral into specialist programs for victims, survivors, and witnesses of harmful practices.
  • Conduct child protection risk assessments and work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Contribute to the development of a Harmful Practices Network, working with a consortium of By and For Grass Roots organizations across the UK.
Requirements
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience of working across a range of cases, from early help to complex child protection.
  • Experience working in a multi-agency environment, dealing with a wide range of cases, including child protection assessments and court cases.
  • Specialist training to build knowledge and expertise.
