Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Special Needs School

Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

Protocol Education is working with a special needs school in Aylesbury that focuses on a holistic approach to learning. The school uses sensory and therapy strategies in their daily timetable to combine an individualised curriculum and a calm and purposeful environment. The students have complex needs, including ASD, behavioural difficulties, and SEMH needs, as well as other individual needs. All students have an EHCP, which will be shared when working with them to ensure consistency and familiarity within their learning and individual goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities.
  • Supporting students with personal care and promoting independence.
  • Creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development of each student.

Requirements:

  • A background in Arts, sensory, therapy, or drama.
  • Experience working with students with SEND.
  • Ability to be adaptable, proactive, and positive.
  • Capacity to engage, promote confidence, distract, and positively influence meaningful, fun, and supportive learning and progress.
