Ambulance Care Assistant Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ambulance Care Assistant to join our team at EMED Group. As an Ambulance Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient transport services to our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
  • Assist in the transportation of 'end of life' service users with empathy and care.
  • Build rapport with patients and their relatives/friends through effective communication.
  • Responsible for lifting, securing, and helping service users in and out of the ambulance.
  • Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centers/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
  • Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs, or similar both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights.
  • Assist service users with challenging behavior and/or mental health illnesses.
  • Ensure the ambulance is kept safe, clean, and tidy.

Requirements:

  • FREC3 qualified.
  • Blue Light Driving qualified (e.g. CERAD).
  • Committed to patient care.
  • Effective communicator with experience of communicating with others in emotional circumstances.
  • Calm, considerate, and careful driver with no more than six penalty points on your license.
  • Natural flair for team working and collaboration.
  • Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
  • Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
