Job Title: Spinal Injury Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Spinal Injury Support Specialist to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with spinal injuries. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with personalised routines, supporting independence and continued rehabilitation, and managing neurogenic bladder and bowel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with personalised routines inclusive of hoists.
  • Supporting Independence and continued rehabilitation.
  • Management of neurogenic bladder - care of urethral/ suprapubic catheter or through use of intermittent catheterisation.
  • Management of neurogenic bowel – undertaking bowel care regime as defined in the care and support plan- this may include Digital Rectal Examination, Digital Rectal Stimulation, Digital Rectal removal of faeces, insertion of suppositories or enema, use of bowel irrigation system.
  • Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
  • Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any changes in clients' conditions.
  • Collaborating with a range of healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work the specified hours.
  • Drivers license with own car
