Job Summary
Blaenavon Medical Practice is a well-established surgery with a close-knit team. We are seeking a General Practitioner to join our team, working autonomously alongside our welcoming and supportive Nursing and Administration team.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills and broaden experience within a proactive surgery.
Main Duties of the Job
Your responsibilities as a General Practitioner will include:
- Performing clinical examinations of patients to assess, diagnose, and monitor conditions
- Carrying out patient consultations at home and within the surgery
- Monitoring patients' conditions and wellbeing
- Carrying out home visits where necessary
- Diagnosing and treating various illnesses/ailments
- Liaising with other healthcare professionals as part of multidisciplinary teams
Opportunities to become involved with Enhanced Services such as Minor Surgery/Joint Injections, IUD/Implants, Diabetes, and Substance Misuse Clinic.

We are a family-focused practice, serving our community for many years. The successful post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
