About the Role

Unreal Gigs is seeking a highly skilled Energy Storage Specialist to join our team. As an Energy Storage Specialist, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing energy storage systems to support renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Develop Energy Storage SolutionsLead the design and development of energy storage systems, including battery systems, pumped hydro, and emerging storage technologies. You will tailor solutions to meet the needs of renewable energy projects, ensuring reliable energy availability.
  2. Optimize Storage Efficiency and PerformanceAnalyze storage performance data to identify opportunities for optimizing energy storage systems. You will work on improving energy density, charge/discharge rates, efficiency, and system longevity, maximizing storage capacity and reliability.
  3. Conduct Feasibility Studies and Technical AssessmentsEvaluate the feasibility of storage projects by conducting technical assessments and economic analyses. You will assess factors such as site suitability, energy requirements, grid connection, and environmental impact to guide project development.
  4. Integrate Storage Systems with Renewable Energy SourcesCollaborate with renewable energy teams to seamlessly integrate storage solutions with solar, wind, and other renewable energy systems. You will ensure that storage supports grid stability and maximizes renewable energy utilization.
  5. Stay Updated on Emerging Technologies and Industry TrendsResearch advancements in energy storage technology, including solid-state batteries, flow batteries, and grid-scale solutions. You will evaluate new technologies to keep storage solutions at the cutting edge of the renewable energy industry.
  6. Ensure Compliance and Safety StandardsOversee the implementation of safety protocols and compliance with regulations related to energy storage systems. You will ensure that all projects meet industry standards, including environmental and safety guidelines.
  7. Provide Technical Support and TrainingOffer technical support to teams involved in energy storage deployment and maintenance. You will train personnel on system operations, safety protocols, and troubleshooting to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Energy Storage System Expertise: Strong experience with energy storage systems, including lithium-ion, flow batteries, pumped hydro, or compressed air storage. You are familiar with the technical challenges of energy storage and can design systems optimized for performance and longevity.
  • Reneable Energy Integration: Knowledge of integrating storage systems with renewable energy sources like solar and wind. You understand the dynamics of renewable power generation and how to leverage storage for grid stability and efficiency.
  • Data Analysis and Optimization Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and performance optimization of energy storage systems. You can interpret complex data and use simulation software (e.g., HOMER, MATLAB) to maximize storage efficiency.
  • Technical and Economic Feasibility Assessment: Expertise in conducting feasibility studies, including technical and economic assessments of storage projects. You know how to evaluate cost-effectiveness, scalability, and site suitability for storage deployment.
  • Safety and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelines for energy storage systems. You are experienced in implementing compliance protocols for storage projects.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Equivalent experience in energy storage or renewable energy systems is highly valued.
  • Certifications in energy storage, battery technology, or grid operations are a plus.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in energy storage systems, with hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining storage solutions for renewable energy projects.
  • Experience with grid-scale storage, microgrid systems, or energy management systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety requirements for energy storage projects is a plus.
