Job Summary

We're looking for a highly skilled Senior Structures Engineer to lead the design and development of key structural components and systems for our onboard carbon capture equipment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission and driving innovation in the shipping industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development
    • Lead the design and sizing of structural parts and assemblies, leveraging CAD software and conducting hand calculations to ensure optimal performance and durability.
    • Perform analytical calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs and ensure compliance with system requirements.
  • Testing and Validation
    • Coordinate and execute hardware test campaigns, including test design, integration, operation, and data analysis to inform design iterations.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive engineering excellence and contribute to the overall growth and development of our engineering culture.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute to the iterative development process of our early-stage startup, addressing challenges and embracing opportunities for innovation.

Requirements

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field, coupled with 3-6 years of experience in a structural engineering role.
  • Strong expertise in engineering fundamentals, including physics, statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience in building and testing real-world structural components.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with commercially available FEA programs for structural analysis and simulation.
  • Resourcefulness, ambition, and a commitment to tackling complex problems with high standards of excellence.
  • Passion for addressing climate change and decarbonizing the shipping industry.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment, delivering results under tight timelines and uncertainty.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for marine environments.
  • Experience leading hardware product development projects.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment with significant responsibility.
