Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team in Bradford. As a key member of the manufacturing/engineering department, you will be responsible for providing input into concepts that meet customer manufacturing requirements and delivering mechanical design realisation of projects under your control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design automated assembly machines, semi-automated work cells, and manual tooling aids for factory production equipment.
  • Analyse customer requirements and create specifications to develop the scope, design, and drawing package for manufacturing equipment.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support, debug, troubleshoot, and integrate activities to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Analyse, specify, and select commercial components to meet project requirements.
  • Evaluate strength and cycle time requirements to ensure optimal design solutions.
  • Review drawings and prepare drawing documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate effectively with team members from various departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • HNC or Apprentice-trained with proven experience in the industry.
  • Experience in designing machines and solutions for automated production processes from concept to delivery.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Production of engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical files.
  • Disciplined approach to project planning and project management.
  • Ability to present designs to customers and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current British Standards and regulations.
  • Preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other technical documentation.
