Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics

About the Role
The Children's Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics to join our medical team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical care to children with brain injury and neurodisability.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the admission of new patients and provide regular medical support in consultation with the child's consultant and senior specialty doctors.
- Day-to-day supervision of children, attending regular unit meetings, arranging investigations, writing admission and discharge summaries.
- Managing clinical cases with the support and under the supervision of the consultant.
- Medical ward rounds, phlebotomy, tracheostomy and gastrostomy button changes, drug charts and reports.
- Attending clinics in neuropsychiatry, neurology, orthopaedic, audiology, ophthalmology, dental, splint/brace, feeding, and botulinum toxin injection.
- Devising emergency protocols.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Working with the Medical Team
You will work closely with the medical team to provide high-quality care to our patients. This includes participating in weekly medical team meetings, attending multi-disciplinary meetings, teaching sessions, and journal clubs.
Research, Audit & Clinical Governance
You will be expected to participate fully in the investigation of complaints, clinical incidents, and near misses in line with The Children's Trust's policy. You will also work within the operational policies and procedures and protocols relating to The Children's Trust.
Education and Training
You will be responsible for providing guidance and support to immediate medical and multi-disciplinary team colleagues and the wider service where appropriate. You will also participate in orientation and induction for new medical staff as appropriate.
General
You will adhere to the policies and procedures of The Children's Trust and maintain professional boundaries and professionalism at all times.
Health and Safety
You will adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including infection prevention and control. You will also provide evidence of all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post.
Wellbeing and Emotional Resilience
You will maintain a positive approach and outlook when dealing with change and overcoming challenges and problems. You will also recognise your own limitations, develop realistic goals, and use support network resources when necessary.
