We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Systems Engineer to join our client, a well-established and successful business operating within the engineering and manufacturing industry.

This exciting role represents a great opportunity to work on the design and development of high-power fibre-optic amplifier subsystems and their components.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, ensure projects meet deadlines and milestones, and work within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical leadership in the design and development of high-power fibre-optic amplifier subsystems and their components
  • Ensuring projects and programmes meet deadlines, milestones, and are within budget
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team that includes optical, mechanical, and electronic design engineers
  • Active involvement and management of prototype build and assembly, including fibre-optic splicing, mechanical/electrical assembly, and opto-electronic test
  • Developing and executing test plans for functional and environmental verification of photonic components and systems, verifying compliance to target specifications
  • Customer interaction, engaging with customers, negotiating specifications, and presenting results clearly and concisely for both internal and external stakeholders
