Senior Optical Design Engineer

This exciting opportunity represents a great chance to join the team as a key member of the senior team, leading a crucial area of the R&D team's work progressing optical amplifier designs for free space optical communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the research, development, and manufacturing phases of the Optical Engineering lifecycle.
  • Lead the systems architecture and requirements, ensuring alignment with business and industry standards.
  • Design and develop simple and complex Electro-Optical Systems, conducting lens and optical performance analysis/simulations.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of detailed design, including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, and testing.
  • Support the integration and test of Electro-Optical Systems, collaborating with optical sub-contractor partners/suppliers.
  • Participate in reviews of optical designs, ensuring compliance with business and industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of optical fibre lasers or fibre amplifiers or non-linear fibre-optics.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics.
  • PhD is highly desirable, demonstrating advanced expertise in optical engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in the design and test of optical systems, with a strong understanding of optical principles and technologies.
