Asbestos Research Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled scientist to play a key role in enabling the continuation of essential research to support the implementation and evidence base for HSE's Control of Asbestos Regulations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting analysis and investigations using optical microscopy, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and other techniques to identify solutions and ensure work can be delivered.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Following and working to health, safety, quality and wellbeing policies and procedures.
- Conducting analysis and investigations using optical microscopy, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and other techniques.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant science discipline, excellent communication and engagement skills, and the ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously.
Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work towards the BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos and will be required to study for and pass the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Proficiency Modules; P401 Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples by PLM P401 and P403 Air Sampling and Fibre Counting.

Salary: £30,167 - £33,346 per annum
