About the Role

As an Infrastructure Planning Consultant, you will provide support to the wider planning team on planning applications and projects. You will develop core competencies to help you consolidate your technical skills and confidence as you build your career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will be responsible for day-to-day management of section or project budgets, including work-in-progress on projects within your area of responsibility.
  • You will gain understanding of the importance of financial success and take responsibility to act in the interest of achieving it.
  • You will interpret, organize, research, analyze, and execute major projects and medium-scale projects.
  • You will be responsible for fee control, technical direction, and effectively managing senior client liaison.
  • You will build the ability to manage medium projects or several small ones with complex features.
  • You will have involvement in drafting and managing planning applications, pre-application enquiries, and appeals.
  • You will undertake basic planning appraisals and research.
  • Provision of guidance to engineers/architects on the production of drawings and supplemental planning information in relation to planning submissions.
  • You will create and prepare fee proposals to generate new business.
  • You will build experience managing clients throughout the planning process.
  • Assisting and managing community engagement committee meetings and public examinations.
  • Communicating with all stakeholders involved in the planning process and negotiating positive outcomes for the client.
  • Attending occasional site visits and client meetings.

The ideal candidate will hold an RTPI-accredited degree or Master's in a related discipline, be a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, or be working towards it. They should also have at least one year of experience in the planning industry, excellent communication skills, strong client liaison skills, good negotiation skills, project management skills, and strong report writing skills.
