Job Title: Assistant Head of Year

Job Summary:

The Discovery Village at the West End – IL is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Head of Year to join our team. As a key member of our pastoral support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic progress and well-being of students across a year group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track student progress, behavior, attendance, and punctuality data and support follow-up and intervention.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve student outcomes and reduce barriers to learning.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to identify and address student needs.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, including crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with parents and carers to ensure consistent support and communication.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures related to student welfare and behavior.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a pastoral support role, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a positive and supportive school culture.
  • Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
