About the Role

The Senior Assessor plays a critical role in ensuring that only those who meet our standards and requirements become IOSH qualified professionals. This role is responsible for verifying that assessments of an individual's knowledge, submitted portfolio, and professional discussion interview process are conducted consistently in line with our standards and learning objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure inclusive assessments with fair access and reasonable adjustments
  • Maintain consistent and appropriate assessment standards
  • Provide recommendations on assessment outcomes to the Professional Development and Standards Team
Requirements
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of quality systems and processes
  • Understanding of educational assessment requirements and processes
  • Demonstrable understanding of the OSH sector
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Exemplary record keeping and attention to detail
  • Robust IT skills
  • Ability to work and manage the work of others independently
  • Self-assurance and confidence to challenge and influence others
Experience and Education
  • Demonstrable assessment marking experience with IOSH or other institutions
  • Evidence of at least 3 years of working in an educational quality assurance role with knowledge of assessment and quality assurance principles
  • Relevant subject expert, qualified to at least Level 6 in the OSH sector
  • A relevant and appropriate assessment qualification, or willingness to undertake a qualification
  • Hold Chartered Membership status with IOSH
