Job Overview

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and experienced nurse to fill a senior nursing role on Mercer Ward at Maidstone Hospital. As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of nurses in providing high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in an acute hospital setting and a strong interest in developing their leadership skills. They will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to think logically and use initiative, and a commitment to delivering safe and compassionate patient care.

The role will involve supporting the clinical education team and participating in a competency-based induction program. You will also be required to work a mixture of long days and short shifts, including internal rotation to night duty.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting a team of nurses in providing high-quality patient care
  • Developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures
  • Participating in the clinical education team and supporting the induction program
  • Working a mixture of long days and short shifts, including internal rotation to night duty

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • RGN qualification and evidence of further study since qualification
  • ENB998 (or equivalent) knowledge and skill
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting and at Senior Staff Nurse Band 5
  • IV drug therapy, IV cannulation, and venepuncture skills
  • Evidence of insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS
