Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Paediatric Radiologist to join our General Radiology Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to children, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in paediatric radiology, with experience in plain radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, MRI, and CT. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of our department, participating in quality improvement initiatives and mentoring junior staff. They will also be required to participate in a non-resident on-call rota, providing cover for general radiology emergencies.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to children, including plain radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, MRI, and CT
  • Working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care
  • Contributing to the development of our department, participating in quality improvement initiatives and mentoring junior staff
  • Participating in a non-resident on-call rota, providing cover for general radiology emergencies

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Full GMC Registration or evidence of eligibility for full GMC registration
  • MBBS or Equivalent
  • On specialist register for Radiology (CCT or equivalent), or within 3 months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • Accredited to and Fellow of The Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent
Desirable Criteria

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Higher degree – PhD, MD or equivalent
  • Management qualification
  • Research/ Publications in paediatric radiology
Experience/Knowledge

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in paediatric radiology
  • Experience of teaching students and multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of leading in Clinical Audit processes
  • Published research in peer reviewed journals in relevant area
  • Awareness of the importance of Clinical Governance through experience of participating in quality or safety improvement projects
  • Completion of at least 1 year of subspecialty training in paediatric radiology
