Job Summary

Vishay Intertechnology is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and switching of high voltage equipment, producing HV/LV switching plans, and ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Manage the maintenance and switching of high voltage equipment, including the production of HV/LV switching plans.
    • Ensure the smooth operation of our facilities, including the management of CHP maintenance and uptime.
  • Electrical Systems Management
    • Own, operate, and maintain HV and LV main distribution, including protection, PFC, and SPDs.
    • Own, operate, and commission site BMS/SCADA systems.
  • Training and Development
    • Carry out on-job training of shift and other personnel on site, including technicians and other engineers.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Produce weekly energy reports and analysis of data, including energy, effluent, and operational.
  • Design and Commissioning
    • Specify, design, and commission control panels and systems.
  • Problem Solving
    • Actively contribute to the departments various meetings and boards, including management of change, 8d, FMEA, and environmental/energy reviews.
    • Assist in problem solving when requested by personnel both inside and outside of the facilities department.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Administer, interrogate, and update CMMS system to schedule and record various maintenance activities.
Requirements
  • Essential
    • Understanding of various items of plant operation, including VFDs, motors, boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps, and vacuum systems.
    • Ability to read, produce, and understand electrical and mechanical drawings, including P&IDs and flow diagrams.
    • Experience and understanding of working with pneumatic systems.
    • A good understanding of both electrical and control/instrumentation systems.
    • Ability to fault find on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic control systems to a high level.
    • Ability to interact at all levels and to carry out presentations to senior management if required.
    • Familiarity with air conditioning systems, including humidity and room pressure controls.
    • Experience within a facilities management or building services environment.
    • Knowledge of current electrical regulations and how these are to be applied.
    • Knowledge and ability to use various common software packages, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Desirable
    • Apprentice trained or appropriate experience.
    • Educated to degree level or similar in an electrical and/or controls discipline.
    • Certificate in safety systems, eg, NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.
    • Basic understanding of air conditioning and humidification control systems.
    • Understanding of DI water and pH correction systems.
    • Appreciation of energy management and an eagerness to improve energy and environmental performance across site.
    • Basic understanding of SPC and how it can be used to monitor and improve control of facilities systems.
    • Understanding of various problem investigation techniques, including 8D and FMEA.
    • Knowledge of and experience in using predictive maintenance techniques, including VA and Thermal imaging.
