Electrical Controls Engineer

Location: Newport, UK

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team at Vishay Intertechnology. As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and switching of high voltage equipment, producing HV/LV switching plans, and owning, operating, and maintaining HV and LV main distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the maintenance and switching of high voltage equipment
  • Produce HV/LV switching plans
  • Own, operate, and maintain HV and LV main distribution systems
  • Carry out on-job training of shift and other personnel
  • Produce weekly energy reports and analysis of data
  • Specify maintenance requirements for equipment under ownership
  • Write operational and performance specifications for electrical and control systems
  • Actively contribute to departmental meetings and boards
  • Assist in problem-solving and administer the CMMS system

Requirements:

  • Understanding of various items of plant operation
  • Ability to read, produce, and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Experience and understanding of working with pneumatic systems
  • A good understanding of both electrical and control/instrumentation systems
  • Ability to fault-find on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic control systems
  • Ability to interact at all levels and carry out presentations to senior management
  • Familiarity with air conditioning systems
  • Experience within a facilities management or building services environment
  • Knowledge of current electrical regulations
  • Knowledge and ability to use various common software packages

Desirable:

  • Apprentice-trained or appropriate experience
  • Educated to degree level or similar in an electrical and/or controls discipline
  • Certificate in safety systems
  • Basic understanding of air conditioning and humidification control systems
  • Understanding of DI water and pH correction systems
  • Appreciation of energy management and eagerness to improve energy and environmental performance
  • Basic understanding of SPC and its application
  • Understanding of various problem investigation techniques
  • Knowledge of and experience in using predictive maintenance techniques
